Blue shades and blue sky

  • 26.02.2015, 18:00

Yo listen up here's a story about a little girl that lives in a blue world... Lots of blue these days. But only on the outside though, inside it's all sunshine. Love pairing dark navy blue with black lately, I think it goes so well together. Especially when binding the look together with my blue glassed Oakleys.

We had one day with spring tease here in New York, and it was amazing to be able to walk around without thinking about the cold constantly. But today it's snowing again... bah! On the other hand, tomorrow it's Friday again and I have a lot of exiting plans for the weekend. Yey! It's been a busy but exciting week at Parsons, yesterday I went to the Coterie trade show. So fun to watch all the upcoming trends and colour palettes for the fall 2015 collections.

SHADES: Oakley
DRESS: Bershka
LEATHER: Zara
FUR: Vintage

Yo listen up here's a story about a little girl that lives in a blue world...

When in New York: Pearl and Ash

  • 24.02.2015, 18:00

(Last picture borrowed from Pearl and Ash)

Tried a new restaurant on Saturday with great success! Pearl and Ash is located at Bowery (a great area for dining and drinks). Cool atmosphere with laidback but stylish interior and great complex food with some really interesting flavours (one of the best hanger steak tartar I've eaten - first picture to the left). But one of the reasons this place has become some popular is because of the amazing wine-list. If your not a wine pro, the sommelier will give you some great expertise and pairings with your food choices.

A great spot for every occasion (date, girlsnight, group of friends, family) - I'm definitely going back.

Make a statement

  • 20.02.2015, 17:30

It's Friday!! That means dressing up is in order. Never understood the hole concept with casual Friday, of course you wanna look your best during the weekend.

One of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe is the crispy white shirt. It ALWAYS works, either paired with denim, leather or a skirt.

If you want to dress up your shirt even more, I recommend adding a statement necklace. It immediately makes the look stand out and more unique. I also love wearing statement jewellery with a plain t-shirt or a long-sleeve for that extra glam.

Surviving the Arctic Blast (fashionably)

  • 19.02.2015, 08:30

Yes baby it's f***** cold outside!! Pardon my language, but the city has been killing me the past weeks. I'm sure you're thinking; "aren't you norwegian?? Deal with it!" But this is really beyond the normal "just add another layer"-weather. First time freezing in my Parajumper jacket EVER! Because of the humidity here and the wind, minus 20 degrees celcius, feels like minus 30! And that's fresh or "freskt" as we say it in Norwegian. So not surprised they named the cold "arctic blast", definitely not having a blast I tell you! The New Yorkers were all drama queens about Juno "the storm", but this is hardcore winter weather. Now I'm literally praying for the spring and some warm weather to come along. A few more weeks of this, and I'm eloping off to the Caribbean!

The cold has naturally created a massive conflict in fashion choices. Either looking like a stuffed turkey with your hundred layers or being the "silly fashionista" that wants to get hypothermia when wearing a skirt. So it's not the best time for taking outfit photos or being creative on that field (safety before fashion right? Or..?), but I've gotten a lot of help from layering wool garments. Been swearing to the wool top I'm wearing almost on a daily basis. I use it under everything(!) and also when going out pared with a skirt or some nice jewellery. This one from &Other Stories has the perfect non itchy wool quality, with that slightly see-through effect making it just as cool for evening wear. A must-have basic.

Stay safe and seek body heat my fellow New Yorkers (tinder must be off the charts these days)!
